Punjab Launches New IT Internship Program for Graduates, Details Here

Lahore: The Punjab Government has announced the launch of a new “IT Internship Program” for IT graduates, allowing young professionals to gain practical experience in cutting-edge technologies while earning Rs. 50,000 each month.

As per the details, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, who launched the initiative, has had this vision of empowering the youth of Punjab through quality education, skill development, and dignified employment in the digital economy.

Program Overview

The Punjab IT Internship Program is an initiative that aims to provide recent graduates in IT and Computer Science, with the technical skills relevant to the industry, by giving them exposure to real-world technology projects.

Interns will receive training in modern market technologies such as software development, cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and digital innovation.

Each intern selected will also receive a monthly stipend of Rs. 50,000 throughout the internship period.

Eligibility Criteria

To apply, candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • Hold a degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related field completed within the last four years.
  •  Possess a valid Punjab domicile.
  • Have a verified Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC) issued by NADRA.
  • Be passionate about learning new technologies and contributing to Pakistan’s digital growth.

How to Apply Punjab IT Internship Program

Official application details are expected to be available soon on the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) and Government of Punjab websites.

Here’s the general process (based on previous government internship programs)

  1. Visit the official portal likely to be https://cmitinterns.punjab.gov.pk/ or a dedicated internship page.
  2. Look for the “IT Internship Program 2025” section.
  3. Fill out the online application form with your academic and personal details.
  4. Upload your latest CV, degree transcript, CNIC, and domicile certificate.
  5. Submit your application before the announced deadline.
  6. Shortlisted candidates will be contacted via email or SMS for further steps, such as an interview or skill assessment.

Government’s Vision

A government spokesperson described the program as “a major step toward integrating Punjab’s youth into the digital economy”, adding that it aims to create a generation of tech-savvy professionals ready to contribute to Pakistan’s growing technology sector.
