Pukhtoo More Than a Language, A Way of Life
Pukhtoon : Literal meaning of pukhtoon: pukhton is a word derived from pushto/pukhto language which is made from five different pushto/pukhto alphabet which has separately different explanations.
pe (پ) is taken from pat (پت) which mean loyalty, taking care of someone or
man of conscience, khe (خے) is taken from Khegara چامرسته کول Cha mersta kol or
یو چا مدد کول Yu cha madad kol which mean to help someone taking care of someone.
Te (ت) is taken from Tewzan (تیږان) which means, a brave, man etc.
Noon ن is taken from a Nangyalee (نانګیالی) in Pashto means bravery or courage. So a pakhton ya pashton must possess all the qualities which a true pokhton has.
pushto/pukhto language is not only a language it is complete set of culture, values norms and traditions. And pushto is not just a language it is something more deeper and more than just a language because if someone do something dishonest then the pukhtoon can say that you had not played the role of a pukhtoon or they simply says in pukhto/pashto that “pukhtoon pukhtoonwale de wankla ya be pukhtoo kar de oko” (you did not fulfill the duty of a true pukhtoon).پښتونوالې دی وہ نه کړہ it seems like that He doesn’t do Pukhtoonwali” or “He doesn’t follow the Pashtun code of conduct”.
Pukhtoonwali is a set of principles guiding Pashtun’s behavior, focusing on honor, hospitality, and revenge.
