Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday inaugurated the fourth phase of the Prime Minister’s Youth Laptop Scheme 2025, reaffirming his government’s focus on education, technology, and youth empowerment under the slogan “Pakistan’s Future Belongs to Its Empowered Youth.”
Speaking at a ceremony in Islamabad, the premier described the initiative as “a historic milestone in Pakistan’s journey toward youth empowerment.” He said that since 2011, over 100,000 laptops have been distributed purely on merit, worth around Rs. 40–50 billion, and that a further Rs. 500 billion has been earmarked for youth education, skills training, and innovation.
Shehbaz Sharif highlighted Pakistan’s growing investment in artificial intelligence, semiconductor development, and digital skills, adding that Saudi Arabia has offered free AI and IT training for Pakistani students under Vision 2030.

“This programme is not for personal glory,” he emphasized. “It’s for the young men and women who will shape the future of Pakistan envisioned by Quaid-e-Azam and Allama Iqbal.”
Chairman of the Youth Programme, Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan, called the scheme a “movement to transform Pakistan into a knowledge-based economy.” Students from across the country shared how the laptops opened doors to higher education, freelancing, and global opportunities.
