SARGODHA: In a landmark initiative promoting inclusivity and accessibility, the first mosque exclusively for women in Sargodha is set to be inaugurated on Thursday, offering a dedicated space for women to pray while out shopping in the city’s busy commercial areas.
The mosque, located within the Municipal Corporation premises, has been established through the joint efforts of Anjuman-i-Shehryan Sargodha and the local business community, who funded and supported the project from the ground up.
According to Anjuman President Mian Muhammad Sarwar and General Secretary Sheikh Hassan Zafar, the purpose behind the initiative is to make it easier for women to perform their religious obligations conveniently while managing daily routines. They emphasized that the facility will be open to all women, regardless of sect or school of thought, ensuring a neutral and welcoming environment.
Community leaders and residents have praised the project, calling it a progressive step toward accommodating women’s spiritual needs in public spaces. The women’s mosque is expected to serve as a model for similar initiatives in other cities across Pakistan.
