His father, Nabeel, recounted the heart-wrenching moment he saw his child fall into the manhole. “I was shopping with my wife, and Ibrahim was with us. He suddenly ran ahead and fell into the manhole,”he said. The incident has left left the family and the community in shock, demanding justice and accountability.
The incident has also raised questions about the safety measures in place to prevent such tragedies. The manhole was located in a busy area, and it’s unclear how it remained uncovered. The authorities’ negligence has been widely criticised, with many calling for action against those responsible.

The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation(KMC)has attributed the incident to the “carelessness” of officials from the Bus Rapid Transit(BRT)service and a nearby department store.

The Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation(KWSC)has allocated Rs 180 million for manhole maintenance, but the lack of effective implementation remains a concern.
