
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi will formally inaugurate the Koto Hydropower Project Today, marking another significant milestone in the province’s growing energy sector.
Located in Timergara Lower Dir district, the 40.8-megawatt Koto Hydropower Plant has been successfully completed and is expected to play a vital role in addressing local energy needs. The project has been designed to produce over 40 MW of clean, environment-friendly, and low-cost electricity. According to official estimates, the plant is projected to generate an annual revenue of Rs. 2.4 billion for the province.
Project Successfully Completed
Following its completion, Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi formally inaugurated the Koto Hydropower Project in Timergara, Lower Dir. The event was attended by government officials, local leaders, and community members who welcomed the project as a major step forward for the region’s development.

CM Sohail Afridi Highlights Vision and Impact
Addressing the inauguration ceremony, Chief Minister Sohail Afridi praised the long-term vision behind the project and emphasized its importance for the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
He said:
“The Koto Hydropower Project reflects the vision of my leader, Imran Khan. He understands the pain of the poor and has always worked for their welfare.”
The chief minister also spoke about the challenges the province has faced over the years, particularly the impact of terrorism on its economy and development.
“Self-created terrorism was brought to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. It wasn’t only about collateral damage the economy of our province suffered terribly,” he remarked.
Afridi highlighted that Imran Khan’s approach toward long-term development had always been people-centric.
“Imran Khan never worried about whether he would come into power in 2024 or whether these projects would be completed during his tenure. What mattered to him was that one day these projects would benefit the people.”

The successful launch of the Koto Hydropower Project marks a significant achievement for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s efforts to enhance its energy production capacity.
