The fellowship will take place at the Georg Eckert Institute (GEI) known formally as the Leibniz Institute for Educational Media in Brunswick, Germany.
About the Fellowship
The Georg Arnhold Senior Fellowship is a research fellowship that lasts for six months, and is intended to develop Education for Sustainable Peace in societies that are recovering from conflict or in transitional political and social contexts. The fellowship intends to support researchers, educators, and/or policymakers who are dedicated to developing educational materials and processes that support peace, reconciliation, and long-term social stability.

Eligibility Requirements
To qualify for the Georg Arnhold Senior Fellowship 2026, applicants must:
- Have at least five years of professional experience in peace education, policy-making, or related fields
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to peacebuilding through education
- Hold advanced academic qualifications in Education, Social Sciences, Humanities, Political Science, Law, or similar disciplines
- Present evidence of combining academic research with practical fieldwork
- Be proficient in English, both written and spoken
Professionals from journalism, government, or non-governmental organizations (NGOs) involved in education or peacebuilding are also encouraged to apply.

About the Georg Arnhold Program
The Georg Arnhold Program was established to promote global peace through educational reform. It bridges the gap between theory and practice by supporting scholars who aim to connect academic research with practical approaches to peace education.
During their six-month stay at GEI, fellows will conduct research, participate in policy dialogues, and develop innovative educational materials to strengthen peace in transitional societies.
The program’s next cycle, the 2027 fellowship, will begin in January 2027, following the completion of the 2026 term.
